A Step Closer
Don’t just talk about unity; practice it.
In partnership
between Netzer and Philadelphia Gospel Movement, we approached the pastors of 24 churches in the Greater Philadelphia area. These 24 pastors and their churches form 12 intentional partnerships. Each partnership helps bridge a significant divide in our culture and represents “a step closer” to the unity Scripture outlines for the church.
The 24 churches
represent urban and suburban congregations, well-established churches and younger church plants, pastors born outside the U.S., and pastors who have lived in the Philadelphia area their entire lives. We carefully and prayerfully selected these 24 churches and 12 partnerships to help move us all a step closer to the unity Christ envisions for his people.
Over the course of the year,
each pastoral partnership meets monthly to discuss an assigned spiritual topic. When possible, the churches hold a unity worship service (or send members to worship at one another’s churches) and serve together through a ministry project in one another’s communities. At the end of the year, the pastors co-author a chapter in a book that tells the story of A Step Closer.
We are thrilled
to partner with 24 pastors from diverse cultural backgrounds who join us on this adventure. We eagerly anticipate what God does as we walk through this year together.
