TEACHING SESSION / w TIM DOERING
A few years ago, we gathered for a powerful service on the beautiful campus of New Covenant Church of Philadelphia—One Hope, One Gospel, One Church. At the close of the day, the founding pastor shared the incredible story of how God led them to possess such a remarkable property. As he finished, he offered a word that still echoes:
“Don’t just ask God for what seems possible. Ask Him for the impossible.”
It was a stirring invitation for the Church to rise up in faith-filled prayer.
Today, our culture is in deep need of an encounter with the living God. The world will read the story of that God through the lives of His people and the faith of His Church. Yes, we can build with ingenuity and serve with grit—and we need both—but what we need most is the tangible presence of a powerful and redemptive God.
If we believe the same God who moved in Scripture and history still moves today, then we have both an invitation and a command: come boldly to the throne to ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK for Him to move again.
Leaders, are we asking God for the impossible?
Is prayer the backbone practice of our churches and the foundation of our leadership?
